Automated Certificate Renewal for Liquidware Stratusphere UX
With the upcoming industry‑wide reduction of publicly trusted TLS certificate lifetimes to 47 days, our IT team anticipates significant operational impact in maintaining secure connectivity, data collection stability, and administrative access within our Liquidware Stratusphere UX environment, specifically across:
- Stratusphere UX HUB
- Stratusphere Collector appliances
- Stratusphere Database servers
- Both internal and public‑facing interfaces/services
Impact Summary
The new 47‑day maximum certificate validity—as described in DigiCert’s announcement
https://www.digicert.com/blog/tls-certificate-lifetimes-will-officially-reduce-to-47-days —creates a renewal cadence that is impractical for manual lifecycle management. Without native automation capabilities, this change introduces:
- Increased administrative overhead related to certificate enrollment and renewal
- Elevated risk of expired certificates impacting service visibility or appliance access
- Potential service disruption for internal users, collectors, and public‑facing endpoints
- Additional recurring testing, validation, and change‑control burdens every 6–7 weeks
Requested Enhancement
We request that Liquidware implement built‑in SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle automation for all Stratusphere UX components, including HUB, Collector, and Database servers. Desired capabilities include:
Certificate Automation
- Automated certificate enrollment for all relevant appliances and services
- Automated renewal via ACME or other API‑driven certificate management platforms
- Automated certificate installation/binding
Service Integration
- Automated service reloads or safe appliance restarts where required
- Support for internal PKI and public CAs (DigiCert, Sectigo, etc.)
Compatibility
Support or integration with modern certificate automation platforms such as:
- DigiCert ACME Services
- Microsoft ADCS ACME
- Venafi
- Sectigo ACME
Visibility & Monitoring
- Certificate health reporting within the Stratusphere UX interface
- Alerts for upcoming expirations across HUB, Collector, and Database servers
- Unified view for internal and public‑facing certificate status
Business Importance
As certificate validity periods continue to compress, automation is becoming a baseline requirement for secure and stable enterprise operations. Native certificate automation support across Stratusphere UX would:
- Reduce risk of downtime or data‑visibility loss
- Improve overall security and compliance posture
- Lower operational burden on system engineers
- Streamline lifecycle management across internal and public‑facing systems
- Ensure consistent and reliable monitoring data collection
