Last Login Timestamp for Machines Without Specifying a Time Period
Request an enhancement to Stratusphere UX that enables the system to report the last login time of a user to a machine without requiring the specification of a custom date range or time period.
Current Challenge
-
Administrators must currently define a time frame to retrieve login data.
-
This adds unnecessary complexity for simple audit and inventory use cases where the latest login activity is needed.
-
It can lead to inefficient data queries and incomplete audit trails if the date range isn’t correctly defined.
Proposed Enhancement
Introduce a “Last Login Timestamp” metric at the machine level that is:
-
Automatically tracked by the system.
-
Displayed in the machine or user inventory views.
-
Available via the Stratusphere API and exportable in CSV/JSON formats.
-
Updated in real time or near-real-time when new login activity occurs.
Benefits
-
Simplified auditing: Easily see when a user last accessed a machine.
-
Improved reporting: Streamline reports for compliance or security audits.
-
Enhanced automation: Enables scripts and third-party integrations to quickly identify dormant endpoints or users.
-
Operational efficiency: Reduces admin time spent querying date filters.
Security & Compliance Relevance
-
Helps enforce security policies by identifying stale accounts or endpoints.
-
Aligns with auditing best practices in regulated industries.

Thanks for the posting John! I've logged the request and will reach out to you directly on details as this is a change would touch several areas of the product. We may be able to do a custom report or SQL that would help you find machine utilization by user / date of last observed user in the short term as well.
