FlexApps with Advertised Shortcuts Go Through a Repair Process when Launched

Problem:

Applications may create advertised shortcuts. FlexApps with advertised shortcuts go through a repair process when launched.

The advertised shortcut properties will appear to have an incomplete target and may not be editable.

Resolution:

  1. Create a shortcut to the application. Verify the properties.

  2. Using the package editor, edit the FlexApp. Navigate to the Shortcuts section. The application may create a Desktop shortcut and a Start Menu\Programs shortcut.

  3. You can either replace the shortcuts with the shortcut that you created or modify the existing packaged icons. If you modify the shortcuts, use the application's full path to the executable for the target. Also modify the path if necessary.

  4. Save and test the package.

 

 

Note: This may also occur on startup if shortcut/links are added to HKLM\Software\MIcrosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

Notice the run regkey\value is launching a shortcut:

If the application is using a shortcut in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, you can edit the package to point to the executable or replace the shortcut with the one that you created.
