By default, current Portability rules do not save the Windows Sound panel applet settings. This can result in any changes made between logons/sessions getting reverted back to either None, or the Windows Default Sound setup:
This is not an issue when using ProfileDisk
If you would like to Save these settings using Portability, you can do the following:
Go to Portability Management on the far left side of the ProfileUnity Console.
Click on the Red Create button on the top right.
Make it look like this: (You can choose your own name, you may want to mark it as something indicating it's custom, and not a default ruleset.
Example: "Windows Default Sound Settings".
Add the following Registry Rules:
Operation: Merge
Scope: Tree
Hive: HKCU
Path: AppEvents\Schemes
Click on the Red "ADD" button to add it to the ruleset.
Add another one:
Operation: Merge
Scope: Tree
Hive: HKCU
Path: Control Panel\Sound
Click on the Red "ADD" button to add it to the ruleset.
Finally, save the ruleset and remember the name you gave it.
Next, go into your User Configuration. Go to and click on "Portability Settings"
Click on the Red button: "Add Portability Setting Rule"
Make it look like this, depending on the name you gave it before:
Note: Your "UID" will be different - That is fine. That is just the UID we use to match the folder archive during portability saves/restores.
Save the new Portability Setting.
Deploy your updated config after clicking "Update" (Blue button, top right).
Now your sound scheme should be saved and restored on next logon:
(I named mine "James" in this example):
Note, this was after I first logged on, saved my scheme named "James", logged off, then back on (non-persistent VDI). Now the setting/changes will persist across user sessions.
