Problem:
When using ProfileDisks and Microsoft Outlook, whether using cached or online Exchange mode, an error related to a failure to sync may be displayed, no new messages will be received, and the reading pane fails to load content for existing messages.
Resolution:
If using ProfileDisks, a configuration must be used that is generated from a configuration template specific to ProfileDisks as these templates contain rules to relocate the %TEMP% directory onto the local system and set the appropriate permissions for a user.
In the scenario above, Outlook attempts to create an "Outlook Logging" directory in %TEMP% and is unable to do so when using ProfileDisks and the directory has not been relocated off the virtual disk.
This behavior is not specific to Outlook as many applications also write to %TEMP% for one reason or another and often run into issues when the directory resides in a location other than on the local system.
