Problem:
Setting up a mandatory profile such as for a kiosk user or non-persona managed user "Bank Teller"
Resolution:
Step 1. Create a Configuration using the Guided Configuration as normal (Non-ProfileDisk) and adding custom rulesets for each module if needed.
Step 2. Filter out the created configuration within the Main Module so the user(s) within the filter are the only account(s) that can access (run the ini) the Mandatory Profile by marking "Enable Filter" checking box and selecting the proper filter under "Require Filter for Execution". (If a filter is not available for the intended user to create the Mandatory Profile, one can be created under Filter Management).
This is the user, admin or otherwise, that will be used to craft the default profile the Kiosk users will then use. This user should setup all the profile elements needed that will then be saved out in portability for the other Kiosk users to use.
Step 1a. OPTIONAL change name of the Configuration to "Mandatory Profile Save Only" within the Main Module
Step 2. Within the Configuration's Portability Settings module set all rulesets to only showing Save. The default is having both Save and Restore marked within the configuration. (Click on each ruleset and click advanced to show the checkboxes for Save or Restore) Afterwards update the configuration by clicking Update.
In general portability will have a per username save path.
ie. \\server\share\%username%\portability
As we want all Kiosk users the share the same portability you want to make the path generic.
As example
\\server\share\kiosk\portability
Step 3. Deploy the configuration and login to a machine/pool that uses the configuration and personalize/setup the session to what will be used as a Mandatory Profile for the Kiosk users.
Step 4. Within the ProfileUnity console, create a copy of the configuration created from Step 1 but edit all Portability rulesets to Restore. (Similar to Step 2 but instead of save it is set to Restore.) Then update the configuration by clicking update.
Step 5. Under Main in the config maybe change the name toe the relevant use case ie. "Kiosk Users"
Step 6. Under Main in the config set the filter for execution to the group of users that will access this config as a Kiosk user.
Step 5. Deploy the configuration and test.
