Problem:
Every time an application is launched, the user is prompted to confirm the default application.
Symptoms:
An application is set as default - e.g. Chrome for the default web browser - and the associations show as having been successfully exported/imported via DISM.exe in the "%TEMP%\AppAssoc.log". "%USERPROFILE%\AppAssoc.xml" saved/restored by the respective portability rule also reflects the correct application associations.
Even though the overall import/export process is successful, the user is still prompted to confirm if they'd like to continue using the current default application or choose another each time a file type is launched. This behavior is indicative of an application having been recently installed and is now available as an option for the default. The screenshot below shows the message received by the user when launching an application.
Possible Resolution(s):
Create a new registry rule as shown in the screenshot below.
*Note*: The registry value below is automatically created if there are any rules created in the "File Association" module of a configuration.
