Problem:
Changes are made to Scale and layout:
Result on next logon - Small shortcut text:
Shrinking task bar icons:
ProfileUnity is in use and the desktop is persistent.
Description:
User sets the "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" to 150, on the next login to the same computer the font size reverts back to small after couple seconds but everything else stays large. Also Taskbar icons shrink.
Resolution:
Step 1) Disable ProfileUnity Refresh and Themes RunOnce processes
Create two Registry rules in ProfileUnity within each active configuration:
- Action: Delete Value
- Process Action After Login: Enabled
- Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
- Value: ProfileUnity-Refresh
- Action: Delete Value
- Process Action After Login: Enabled
- Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
- Value: ProfileUnity-Themes
Step 2) With the two registry rules in place and the updated configuration(s) deployed, users need to:
- Logon to their desktop
- Change the DPI (Scale and Layout) to anything other than the current value. Note: Even with the new rules in place, scaling will likely still not be correct as changes have been saved to the local profile.
- Logoff once more
- Logon to their desktop
- set the DPI to the desired value
DPI values should now be reflected correctly on screen and not revert upon subsequent logons.
