Stratusphere appliances ship with multiple disks. Some are expandable while some are not. It is important to expand only the right disk to avoid any waste of space on storage.
Follow the below guide precisely. Resizing the wrong disk will result in a broken appliance/state. If a mistake is made, reach out to Liquidware Support immediately.
NOTE: You must delete all snapshots before you resize. Please verify you have the right disk.
- Go to Stratusphere Online Sizing Guide for sizing recommendation: https://forms.liquidware.com/forms/stratusphere-sizing-guide.php
- Log on to vSphere Client, select the Stratusphere appliance you want to edit, and power off. Click on Edit Settings.
- On Stratusphere Hub you will see the following Only Expand the hub if there is no separate DB:
- On Stratusphere DB, you will see the following:
- while on the DB appliance, you will see additional drives:
- Select the drive you need to edit. Hard disk 1 is the boot disk (OS). Because it contains multiple partitions, it cannot expand automatically. Hard disk 2 is for swap. It is expandable but normally you do not need to make any change. Hard disk 3 is the database disk on the hub and DB appliances. The hub disk 4 is the upgrades disk. The DB appliance disk 4 is for database temp and DB disk 5 is for DB transaction logs. We only need to resize disk 3 on a hub when there is no separate DB, or disks 3 and 4 on a separate DB appliance. Edit the disk to the desired size per sizing guide recommendation
- Once all the modifications are complete, click OK to save the settings and power on the appliance.
- Stratusphere appliance will detect the disk size change and will automatically resize at the next startup.
