Question:
Once I am sure I downloaded the correct mgcert.per from my hub and I have a valid registration I was then able to register it with the statusphere hub. When this happened the hub returned a file named "cert.txt". What is it?
Symptoms:
Because the IP address of the mgcert.pem matches up correctly to the IP of the connector ID it allowed the proper registration with the Stratusphere hub. The Statusphere hub has a registration process which when executed, figures out a new registration from computer XYZ is pending, realized it does not have that in its database so this is a new machine and It is going to register it and send back a cert.txt file.
Note: Only if you have a valid registration do you get back a cert.txt file.
Possible Resolution(s):
Verify that file "cert.tx"t is present @ this location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Liquidware Labs\Connector ID\ca
The existence of this file explains that the Connector ID received first set of instructions when it was initially installed. The file runs there processes on the client the connector ID is installed on seen here from task Manager.
The cert.txt contain all the settings you set in it such as callback frequency, sampling frequency, folders, what to ping, etc. Its all signed, encrypted, basically all the PKI elements the hub needs is contained within this file. This is where everything starts. Once this is finished, that's when the connector ID actually starts running. At that time it spawns three services. If you open task manager, click show processes for all users, click on the heading image name and then scroll down to "t" you will see three services running; tntgrd.exe, tntuidsrv.exe and tntupdsrv.exe
tntgrd.exe process is the main connector ID Process,
tnturdsrv.exe (if using the advanced version) and we would like to know information pertaining to the users such as the user currently logged in we would use this process.
tntupdsrv.exe if the connector ID needs to upgrade from old to new version, this process will start and stop with the machines, *users do not have to do anything.
