Problem:
IE advanced settings are not saved with ProfileUnity
Symptoms:
In an example below, the user wants to change "Userdata Persistence" option in the IE.
However, they get reset whenever he logs off.
Possible Resolution(s):
Often it is a GPO setting IE settings back to the default configuration
This setting is indeed captured by ProfileUnity by a default Internet Explorer ruleset.
In particular the following registry key sets these settings.
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
However, the GPO resets the settings each time the user logs in.
In the following example the GPO sets the "Userdata Persistence" to the "Disabled".
Therefore no matter what the user's input is it will still reset it to "Disabled"
Therefore, in order to capture the user changes. Please do the following.
1. Please disable the settings in the GPO
2. Please make sure the following key is captured by your Internet Explorer rule in :
- open "Portability Settings".
- Find "Internet Explorer" or "Internet Explorer - X.X" (where X.X stands for a version in which the rulest was introduced)
-Make sure the following key is a part of this IE ruleset
Merge Tree HKCU Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
