Problem:
Active Setup is running same time as ProfileUnity splash screen during logon.
"Setting up personalized settings for:"
Or
Windows Explorer opens after user logs in to the desktop.
Symptoms:
Check this registry location:
"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon"
When ProfileUnity is correctly installed it should list "C:\Program Files\ProfileUnity\userinit.exe" vs Default windows value: "C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe"
Most likely the setup visible in screenshot above has both ("C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe" and C:\Program Files\ProfileUnity\userinit.exe")
Possible Resolution(s):
1) No ProfileUnity startup script configured in GPO.
Verify ProfileUnity GPO Startup Script (pointing to LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe located in ..\\netlogon\profileunity) is not working or setup incorrectly.
(Fix the GPO to point to correct LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe)
2) If Sysprep is in place:
Option A) Use local GPO with sysprep
(Open base/gold image and do gpedit than configure local GPO to point startup script to LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe)
Option B) Disable sysprep and use Quickprep
Please refer to this KB for more information: How to run ProfileUnity with sysprep?
