Problem: DRM videos not playing back correctly with Enterprise Chrome when delivered as a FlexApp.
When playing back videos with DRM protection the player may be unresponsive or stuck loading.
The workaround to this issue would be to assign a drive letter to the package, and extending the package by adding/creating a shortcut to the Desktop and Start Menu manually.
The steps are as follows:
- Ensure the chrome package is not assigned in any configuration within the Flexapp module in the ProfileUnity console.
- In the open Windows File Explorer in your FlexApp Packaging Console VM, and navigate to the the vhdx location on network and mount the chrome package's vhdx by right clicking the vhdx and clicking mount
- Assign a driver letter to the chrome package's vhdx location using disk management by right clicking the mounted vhdx and clicking change drive letter and paths
- Using File Explorer, go to the data folder of the Package's mounted drive
ASSINGEDDRIVELETTER:\NAMEOFPACKAGE\Data - Within the folder. create an empty file named DriveLetter.Q (or a different letter if the drive letter is being used in VDI).
- Detach the VHDX or Unmount the VHDX using Disk Management by right clicking the Package's mounted VHDX and clicking Detach VHD
- Open the FlexApp Packaging Console and edit the Chrome package
- Dropdown to shortcuts and remove any chrome shortcuts on Desktop and Start Menu
- Save the package
- Extend the package in High Compatibility mode
- Open File Explorer and go to ASSIGNEDDRIVERLETTER:\DATECREATIONANDPACKAGENAME\Volumes\C\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\
an example would be:
Q:\2023-07-18UTC16-39-45-882-Enterprise Chrome-1\Volumes\C\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\ - Right click chrome.exe and click create shortcut and drag or create at C:\Users\Public\Desktop\ and C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\
the shortcut can be renamed to Google Chrome - Save the package
- Deploy and test the new chrome package
