Problem:
When a user logs in, the shortcuts that were created via the ProfileUnity "Shortcuts" module are not seen.
Symptoms:
This appears to manifest when using a custom icon file or a custom directory that does not exist.
or
Resolution:
The 2 permutations of this issue will be addressed in an upcoming release of ProfileUnity.
This issue can also be resolved by disabling "Client.NET Desktop Shortcuts" in ProfileUnity.
Certain features can be turned off before the ProfileUnity client runs. To ensure that this happens it is recommended to enable/change a setting in the ProfileUnity user configuration GPO. Features can also be disabled via a registry rule. Features that can be disabled are listed in the following KB:
If you do not have any other features disabled the registry rule would use the following sittings:
- Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- Key: Software\Liquidware Labs\ProfileUnity
- Type: REG_SZ
- Value: DisableFeature
- Data 134217728
NOTE: You should only have one DisableFeature registry key.
If you are already disabling other features, it is necessary to add up the numbers associated with the given features.
For example, If you already have a registry key that disables the "Print Spooler Restart" feature that has the number 4 associated with it, and you want to disable the "Client.NET Desktop Shortcuts" which has the number 134217728 associated with it, it will be necessary to add these numbers together (4+134217728 = 134217732) to get a number that will disable both features. You will use the sum 134217732 as the new registry data setting.
